BoliviaMall.com was founded on 1999. On February of 2002 it was
acquired by its current owners and since then its success and growth
has been fueled by significant investments and improvements.
As a rare "technology based"
business in a pre-emerging economy, BoliviaMall.com has been able to
take advantage of the internet to open global markets for more than
5000 Bolivian products. These markets would otherwise be unreachable
to most of the 150 artisans and small firms that manufacture
BoliviaMall's products, which in turn employ more than 750 workers.
BoliviaMall's has customers in more
than sixty other countries around the world.
New markets mean support for
industries that have been crippled by piracy such as publishing and
record companies. BoliviaMall.com is one of the few businesses in
Bolivia who sells only copyrighted material. We feel that in that way
we are protecting an industry that is closely tied with our culture
and arts.
Company's History
1999: A group of entrepreneurs launches BoliviaMall.com as the
first e-commerce site in Bolivia.
2000: An English store is added,
opening new markets for the products offered through the site.
2002: Prieto
Technology Investments acquires the site and all its assets. The new
management aggressively pursues new investments and improvements:
